We are famiLy
Where do we sit at a Wedding Ceremony? To some this shouldn’t be a question, but for most it’s a customary tradition. It has been tradition for the groom’s family to sit on the right hand side and for the bride’s family and friends to sit on the left hand side. It was all so her family could get a better (or last) look at her before she moves to be with her new husband. In the olden days, the bride would never return back to her family unless it was a dire need for her to be there. Her roles and responsibilities or to her new family and to her husband. So the family getting one last look at their family member marrying into another family was a great opportunity to say their goodbyes. In today’s culture we aren’t leaving our families to join new families were simply combining families. So this welcome sign, has doubled to let the guests know that they can pick any seat at the ceremony because they’re all family now.
If you’re interested in sticking with tradition, then you add a couple of people to your wedding party. These people are known as ushers, greeters, or hostesses. These wedding party roles would allow your guest to be greeted and would also show them the traditional side of seating where they can sit. Most the times these roles do not have a tuxedo but rather a nice suit or dress. It’s for extended family that you would love to have included in your special day but didn’t necessarily have the space or availability for them to be in your actual wedding party. Most of the time these can be a cousin, older nephews, brothers or Aunt. And you always will pick someone who is very courteous, kind and compassionate who will be able to welcome your guests with a big smile.
