What’s on the menu?

Hi CRW Family,
After months of planning your reception and a night of tasting a sample menu, you and your fiancé know what you are planning to serve at your wedding however, your wedding guests do not! One way to let your guests know what’s on the menu for your wedding is to have menu cards. You can place the menu cards individually at each place setting or you can have a shared menu card for an entire table. Menu cards have become another simply way to add extra design elements to your place setting. The menu cards come in all shapes, fonts and sizes. The graphics on them can be consistent with stationary from your wedding invitations, save the dates, place cards, and eventually thank you cards.

What goes on these cards? A Menu card should include any and all food items that will be served at your wedding (soup, salad, entree(s) and desserts but not limited to vegan or vegetarian options) in addition to any ingredients that will be included to make these dishes. This way you alert alert your guest of any food allergens that could potentially be in their meal. To make things slightly easier, you could add a allergies line to your reply card to resolve issues with gluten, shellfish, mushroom or nut allergies beforehand.

Some venues offer a complementary menu card for their hosted receptions. Others this is an added expense. Just simply ask if this option is available prior to you spending any money yet to get this created on your own. However, it doesn’t have to be that expensive, there are plenty of stationary companies and creatives who can create custom cards with afford pricing.

Tuesday Tip: Check out Zazzle for cards under $1.00 per card. You can choose from one of their templates and customize right online. You can also order individual samples so you can see what they look like in advance. Shipping is additional but at lower costs and fast.

Bonus Tip: Check out Etsy. Try a “Print your own” option. Select the style and design you like then pay for the digital image and print them yourself or at a local printer. If you own a high quality printer at home, you could do menu cards for under $20 total.
